Ketch is a good boy!  He is good with people, gentle with young children, good with dogs and cats.

Ketch is a good temperament boy.  He is friendly and gentle with people, good with dogs, and gentle with young children.  Ketch had a rough start in life and can be a little shy at first.  With some love and patience, you will see how wonderful he is.  Ketch is doing very well and ready for his own forever home.  He is now in a foster home with over 50 rescued dogs enjoying the comfort of a safe and clean home.  All the doggies learn to share everything from affection to food to toys.  Ketch started some basic obedience training and is learning at a good pace. He is crate-trained and house-trained.  Ketch rides well in the car and enjoys both a quiet home or an active life.  He is one smart boy and will make a lovely family dog.

Ketch’s Rescue Story

Ketch, Kiby, Kaper and Karma were four dogs kept at a mountainside semi-duck farm owned by an old man. Their original conditions were deplorable, kept on chains and surrounded by their feces, mud and trash. They had no real shelter and the food they were given was raw pig skin which was often covered in maggots. Their water was green with mold and often not refilled. A lady had spoken to the old gentleman many times about taking the dogs as he really didn’t care for them, but he wanted them to guard his ducks – he didn’t really care about their condition.
The lady would go back from time to time to feed them some more decent food and check up on them. Recently when she went back she found there was no food and no water and the old man was nowhere to be found. She tried to call him and was informed by his family that he had been taken in to intensive care and probably wouldn’t be leaving the hospital.
The lady asked about the dogs and the family didn’t want to do anything about them. They said she could take them, or they could call the government or just let them off the chains to find their own food in the mountains. The family couldn’t care less if these animals starved to death, as far as they were concerned they were not their responsibility.
When we saw the condition these dogs were kept in, we knew immediately we had to help. They had no food, no shelter and no water. One of them had broken free of his chain, but didn’t leave the area as he had never known anywhere else.
Kirby, Ketch, Kaper and Karma were in terrible condition, malnourished, flea ridden, and had bed sores due to sleeping in mud or hard cold ground. They were scared, but seemed to understand they were being helped and didn’t struggle too much when we went to get them off their chains. Their collars were not collars but metal wrapped in a rubber tube and tied around their neck. We had to use pliers and metal cutters to get them off.
Once in the safety of our car they seemed to relax and even smile. This was probably the very first time in their lives they had a warm, soft place to sit.
We are appalled by the way these dogs were treated both by the old man and his family. These dogs do not deserve to spend their lives on short chains in feces, mud and trash. They deserve love, care and a warm place to sleep.

They adjusted the moment they arrived at their foster home.  They are enjoying playing with all her rescued dogs.  Ketch is a lovely boy and greets everyone with his wagging tail.  He walks well on the leash and enjoys his daily walk in the mountain area.

Ketch had a complete health checkup.  Luckily, he is a healthy boy.  Ketch has been neutered, vaccinated, chipped, de-wormed, and tested negative on his heartworm test.  Please give Ketch a safe and happy home to grow up so that we can continue to save more dogs in desperate need.
